Section 1: Getting Started & Care Philosophy
What is weight-inclusive nutrition, and how does it work?
Weight-inclusive nutrition focuses on overall health, well-being, and health-supporting behaviors rather than manipulating body size. Instead of restrictive diets, calorie counts, or strict rules, we focus on gentle nutrition, body respect, and building a flexible, sustainable relationship with food.
Do I need to practice Intuitive Eating to work with you?
Not at all. Whether you are curious about Intuitive Eating, recovering from chronic dieting, or simply looking for practical nutrition guidance, care meets you wherever you are.
Will I be weighed at my appointments?
No. Weighing is never a required part of our sessions. The focus remains entirely on how you feel, your energy, health markers, and your relationship with food—not a number on a scale.
Will you give me a rigid meal plan or tell me exactly what to eat?
No. Rigid meal plans tend to disconnect you from your body's natural signals and often feel like just another diet. Instead, we work together to build flexible parameters, practical meal-planning frameworks, and routines that fit your real, everyday life.
Will I have to track or log my food?
We do not use tracking apps or food logging to count calories, macros, or points. Occasionally, we may use brief, intentional reflections to help you tune into internal hunger, fullness, and satisfaction cues—or to notice how specific foods make your body feel—but this is always tailored to your comfort and goals.
What happens during a free Connection Call?
This is a brief, 15-minute, zero-pressure conversation to discuss what you're looking for support with, answer logistical questions, and see if we are a good fit to work together.
What can I expect during my initial intake session?
We will explore your health history, food relationship, lifestyle, and goals. There are no weigh-ins or rigid meal plans assigned—just an open, non-judgmental dialogue to identify practical, compassionate next steps.
How often will we meet for follow-up sessions?
Appointment frequency is tailored to your unique needs, goals, and schedule. While every client's path is different, most clients meet every 2 to 4 weeks to build momentum, reflect on what is working, and make sustainable adjustments at a manageable pace.
What are your qualifications and credentials?
I am a Licensed Nutritionist (LN) in the state of Minnesota, a Certified Nutrition Specialist® (CNS), and a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.
LN (Licensed Nutritionist): State licensing that ensures legal accountability, adherence to scope-of-practice laws, and high standards for client safety. This also allows me to accept insurance.
CNS (Certified Nutrition Specialist®): An advanced credential for clinical nutrition professionals that requires a Master of Science degree in human nutrition, 1,000+ hours of supervised clinical practice, and passing a rigorous board exam.
Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor: Specialized training through the Original Intuitive Eating Pros to help clients heal their relationship with food and body image.
All credentials require regular continuing education.
Section 2: Insurance, Fees & Payments
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. Whole You Nutrition is an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield MN and UnitedHealthcare. For other insurance carriers, a superbill (an itemized medical receipt) can be provided for you to submit to your insurer for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Can I use my HSA or FSA funds?
Yes! Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) can be used to pay for private-pay appointments, co-pays, or deductible balances regardless of your insurance carrier. (It is always recommended to confirm your specific plan's coverage for licensed nutrition counseling prior to your session.)
Where are in-person appointments located, and do you offer telehealth?
In-person sessions take place at the office in Northeast Minneapolis (3518 Johnson Street NE). Virtual telehealth sessions are always available.
Can I see you if I live outside of Minnesota?
Telehealth counseling is available for clients in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and select other states depending on licensure regulations. Reach out to confirm if your state qualifies.
